Several projects were administered directly by the federal government, including the Art, Music, Theatre, and Writers' projects. The majority of WPA spending went toward the creation and preservation of the nation's infrastructure.
This collection contains some rare symphonic orchestra music by the Federal Music Project during the late 1930s - early 1940s.
Thank you very much. I'm delighted to have found your catalog. I'm researching the Federal Music Project, so I am looking forward to the WPA concerts compilation that I just ordered. What source did you get these concerts from? Also, do you have the liner notes or list of WPA concert details available?
I was also curious if some of your other CDs might contain works by Federal Music Project musicians, such as background music for a radio drama.
The CD I purchased had The Saxophone Sextette of Boston, The Manhattan Concert Band, and The New York Festival Orchestra. They were all from 1939 and were all entertaining with light classical music.
There's definitely a lot of things I'll be looking at on your site, for example, the FDR Fireside Chats and Marian Anderson singing at the Lincoln Memorial. I also like the Golden Age of Science Fiction. You have a lot of neat stuff.
