Mystery! Murder! Pretty girls and a touch of the supernatural! We find all this and more in the office of Nemesis Inc., a private investigation service on the twenty-first floor of a modern building on Chicago's Loop. The agency is run by pretty Marie Ravell but was founded by her late father. We hear Marie on the office telephone speaking to the distraught daughter of Grover Donnelly who wants to hire her to investigate the murder of her father. Marie refuses to take the case, stating that there can be no murder if there is not a body! About then, a handsome window washer crashes through the window of the 21st story office.
The handsome window washer gives the name Pete Smith, and Smith turns out to be exactly what Marie is looking for in an assistant. Smith soon learns that one of the agencies secrets is that Marie's late father guides the agency using a mysterious voice from beyond the grave. That frightening tidbit takes a back seat when Grover Donnelly's body is discovered leaning against the office buzzer!
After the cops haul away the body, Sgt Clary of the Homicide Squad has some suspicions of his own, fueled in part by his instinctive distrust of Private Eyes. This distrust does not abate when the real, living, breathing Grover Donnelly shows up in the office! It becomes obvious that forces are afoot to scare not only Donnelly, but several of the city's wealthy elite into giving up a significant portion of their fortunes, and it is up to Nemesis Inc. to put a stop to it.
Nemesis Inc. is a serialized mystery drama recorded by Bruce Eells and Associates Syndication sometime in the Thirties. The episodes collected here do not contain the usual musical interludes for local station identification. The update at the beginning of each episode has been retained, however, so there is little chance of the listener getting too lost.
