My Son Jeep

My Son Jeep is the bright and warm hearted comedy adventures of the Allison Family of Grove Falls, featuring "irrepressible, unpredictable ten year old Jeep". The show was a short-lived family situation comedy originally broadcast from January 25 - June 14, 1953. The show and its characters also had a brief stint on the small screen.

Donald Cook plays Doctor Robert Allison, a widower in Grove Falls, USA. He is left to raise his sweet thirteen year old daughter Peggy, played by Joan Lazer, and his precocious ten year old son, Jeffery "Jeep" Allison, played by Martin Huston. Leona Powers plays their Housekeeper, Mrs. Bixby.

Dr. Allison is a loving and intelligent father, and like so many, he baffled by the fact that his children are smarter than he is; they are always getting their way and foiling his attempt to be master of his domain. Peggy is a teenage girl, with teenage friends, and that is trouble for any father. Jeep is a son that any father would be proud of, and is learning all the things that he need to grow as a respectable young man. But there are more important things in his world, like baseball, tree forts, and dealing with a teenage sister!

My Son Jeep was selected by the Veteran's of Foreign Wars as, "The Best American Situation Comedy On The Air."  The old time radio show and its star character, Jeep, were supporters of the Boy Scouts of America.

"My Son Jeep" is reminiscent of radio family situation comedies are Blondie, The Aldrich Family, The Life of Riley, Ozzie and Harriet, The Goldbergs, Phil Harris and Alice Faye, The Great Gildersleeve, and Vic and Sade.
