When people think of Hawaii they imagine coconuts, luaus, and tropical nights under the moonlit nights. Memories of Hawaii brought into the homes of the millions of listeners the soft musical tones of hawaiian themed melody.Guitar strumming the velvety waves that overflow the senses with tranquility and calm. That is the promise and premise of Memories of Hawaii.
The narrator shares the tales of daily hawaii...it's history and it's intrigue. Hawaii is more than a tropical island of romance and sand. it is a lore into the people that made up the 50th state. King Kamehameha reigned over the Hawaiian people and the islands with dispatched authority, yet he also became a symbol of the resourcefulness of the island inhabitants. The people of Hawaii are a proud people that love their land and invite the visitor to share in their bounty. That comes through in the poetical tones of the music, the narration and the imagery that wakes up in the mind.
Memories of Hawaii transcends the walls and coasts and brings the radio audience to the cascading white waves that belt the cliffs off of Diamond Head. Sugar cane is tasted in the imagination as much as it is in the mouth and if you want papaya...picture the fruit falling from the tree next to you. Native tongues speak the language of aloha (welcome) and aloha (goodbye, until we meet again).
Whether the vestige is a walk upon the boardwalk by the beach or paddling over the wispy water of Oahu, the radio listener longs to be in the land of the "shimmering silk". But until next time...Aloha!
