When Americans think of members of Congress they tend to think of Joseph McCarthy, Robert Kennedy, Ted Kennedy, Bernie Sanders, Newt Gingrich, and Nancy Pelosi. But perhaps in recent history we can add one more name to that list, and that would be Marjorie Taylor Greene.
What this collection will try and do is chronicle Representative Greene as she in such a short amount of time rose through the ranks of Republican Party politics in order to wheeled power in just a second term of the House of Representatives.
Greene's path to elective office really started when in 2019 she traveled to Washington, DC as an American citizen and gun owner to confront David Hogg; a Parkland, Florida school shooting survivor from 2018. And just a month earlier went to speak to newly elected congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York to express her distaste for the abortions that have been done since Roe vs Wade made a woman's right to choose legal back in 1973.
In 2020, Marjorie Taylor Greene successfully won a seat to the House of Representatives from the state of Georgia's 14th Congressional District defeating her Democratic Party challenger with 74.7 percent of the vote.
As she entered the House in 2021, Greene was not without controversy. Just two days after being sworn into Congress she was seen leaving the White House on January 5, 2021. Some believe that she may have been helping plot how to keep Donald Trump president by helping to stop certification of the Electoral Votes declaring Joe Biden president and Kamala Harris vice president.
In March 2023; Taylor Greene debated Gun Free Schools with fellow Representative Jared Moskowitz. Taylor Greene claimed that in 1990 when she was in the 11th grade and Joe Biden made the nation's schools Gun free school zones a fellow student came to her high school with three guns resulting in her school being on lockdown. This incident that she references took place on September 6, 1990. The Gun Free Schools Act was introduced in the US Senate and passed by voice vote and in the House of Representatives 313 to One. The President at the time; George HW Bush signed the Gun Free Schools Act into law on November 29, 1990.
n her first term as a Representative from Georgia, Greene made some unfavorable remarks about fellow members of Congress that came off as threatening. This resulted in the House voting to strip her of her committee assignments giving her free time to go on cable news to promote her agenda to the American people. In addition, in a showman like way, Greene tore up a warning that Speaker Pelosi gave to her for not wearing a mask on the floor of the House of Representatives during the height of of COVID-19. She and fellow members of the Freedom Caucus would go to Washington, DC jails to report on the deplorable conditions the January 6 Insurrectionists were in, believing that members of BLM (Black Lives Matter) and ANTIFA (Anti-Fascist) were treated much better and had better conditions while awaiting trial.
So as the GOP took control of the House in 2023, Marjorie Taylor Greene seemed to become the new face of the Republican Party. This collection chronicles Representative Greene back to her days as an advocate for the 2nd Amendment all the way up to investigating First Son, Hunter Biden.
