The Announcer invites us to relax in the comfortable cushions of the Club's lounge chairs, and to enjoy the soothing music of Morton Gould directing the Orchestra with singer Donald Novis. Later we will be treated to a small drama wherein a young boy and his mother are fascinated by how hard frozen the ice cream is from their neighbors' new Kelvinator Electric Refrigerator with the built in thermometer. How can an electric refrigerator be so cold? But we will accept the commercial message, because soon we will be back to the music.
Born in England, Donald Novis pursued his singing & acting career in the United States. Novis first sang with big bands and then led his own orchestra in the 1930s. He appeared in several films including Bulldog Drummond and on the Fibber McGee and Molly radio program.
A child prodigy in music, Morton Gould was arranging and conducting orchestral programs for radio broadcasts in his twenties. Gould's music included both popluar and classical elements and appeared on Cresta Blanca and The Chrysler Program. For more Kelvinator sponsored listening, see also: Nash-Kelvinator Showroom.
