Cary Grant is best known for the debonair flavor he brought to the screen. During the rise and height of his movie career, Grant also made many radio appearances. Some of these are radio versions of his film performances, but he also did many new and unseen radio drama, comedy, and suspenseful programs.

Cary Grant began his life as British-born Archibald Alexander Leach ("My family name is Leach, to which at my christening was added Archibald Alexander, with no opportunity for me to protest. For more than half of my 58 years I have cautiously peered from behind the facade of a man known as Cary Grant.).

Cary often went back and forth between wanting to be Archie Leach and Cary Grant. He felt that his marriages and relationships sometimes failed because people mistook him as the idealized Cary Grant that he often portrayed in public and on the screen. From early childhood, he craved attention and approval. He received both from the film-going public. 

One particular fan was Alfred Hitchcock who helped Grant tremendously with his career through repeated box-office smash movie hits. Though known for often disliking actors, Alfred Hitchcock said that Cary was "the only actor I ever loved in my whole life."
