Baseball in Old Time Radio Collection

Wow! I just started listening to this collection; its an amazing compilation! A few of the games I remember, but so many good ones to hear! A+

I am so glad you added so many old baseball games. I’ll hear the 57 and 58 WS with the Yankees and Milwaukee. And believe it or not I’m so looking forward to hearing the Yankee games from the 66-70, we call it the "Horace Clark Years”, he was the 2nd baseman in their worst years,and I was in high school. I listen to the old radio shows on long drives on a mindless roads like the Turnpike or Parkway. Or on the beach, watching the waves and girls and i’ll have on Suspense, or Philip Marlow or an old baseball game. The first time I heard the 1934 Yankees-Tigers game I got goosebumps, sitting on the beach on a hot July afternoon. Lou Gehrig playing 1st, and Babe Ruth is not starting, but available to pinch hit. And the game is complete too. AMAZING.

I now own over 70 of your MP3's and still continue to buy new ones. There's so many shows I can't even keep up- thousands. They bring back such great memories and truly bring out the imagination of the mind. As a WWII baby boomer, I remember sitting on my grandfather's lap while the whole family was waiting for Jack Benny on Sunday night. These days I go to sleep listing. No strain on my eyes. They soothe my brain during these tumultuous times. the world today is upside down and the programs you provide bring back the old days. Wish everyone could go back to the way it used to be, but that can never be. Thank you for bringing this great source of entertainment to my household. Old time radio is and will always be my favorite. The new Baseball collection along with the free Babe Ruth MP3 is excellent. Currently just finished "The Pride of the Yankees," with Gary Cooper. Ironically just saw it on TCM, for last week was "supposed" to be the start of Baseball season. Ron

I am currently listening to the 1968 World Series between the Card and Tigers. I clearly recall one play, in game 2. Mickey Lolich hit a home run. His first in the majors. I was in a pool hall across the street from my school, St Mary’s High School in South Amboy. The announcers noted it was lolich’s first pro HR, after 452 plate appearance.. All the guys were amazed, but I heard one of the wisest statements ever. The old owner, Al a true curmudgeon said, “He was due.” I’ve kept that piece of genius and logic and used it many times since. A few weeks ago I listened to the 1958 Series. I might know the outcome of the Series but not the individual games. This is wonderful way to spend time during this crisis.

Are you a baseball fan? I have been one ever since I was a child. (I confess that my interest decreased a lot when the Dodgers and Giants moved from New York City to California in 1957). If you share my interest in school, comedy, and baseball, consider the Baseball in Old Time Radio collection. There are a lot of gems here Three of my favorites are: Lux Radio's "Pride of the Yankees" (Gary Cooper's unforgettable portrayal of Yankees legend Lou Gehrig), Our Miss Brooks "Baseball Game" episode, and my special favorite: Screen Director's Playhouse production of "It Happens Every Spring" Do any of you remember Fred McMurray in The Absent-Minded Professor film in which the professor invents a chemical called "Flubber" which allows people to fly—and eventually enables his college to win an important sports game? The OTR equivalent is "It Happens Every Spring," in which Ray Milland plays a college professor who invents a new chemical that allows him to strike out any batter to whom he pitches. (If you are like me, you will want to see the complete movie after hearing this half hour production.) Unfortunately for him, nobody believes that he can win baseball games with his discovery. (Well, would YOU believe someone who said that?)
