Bachelor's Children was a daytime soap opera that ran for over a decade, broadcast originally on Chicago's WGN in 1935, then syndicated nationally.
The "bachelor" was Dr. Bob Graham. The "children" were twin girls, Ruth Ann and Janet, the daughters of Dr. Bob's sergeant from his days in the military service. Before the sergeant's untimely death, he asked Dr. Bob to become their guardian and see the girls safely to adulthood. Bachelor's Children follows the drama of Dr. Bob, his best friend, Sam Ryder, as the men fall in love with the young women. The path to romance and happiness is fraught with complications as the couples find their way.
Hugh Studebacker starred in the role of Dr. Bob, and Olan Soule played Sam Ryder . Bess Flynn was the writer and creator of the series; the show's announcers were Russ Young and Don Gordon. The series won Movie-Radio Guide's 1941 Award as "radio's best daytime serial program," recognized as the "most representative script on the way of life of an average American family." This collection is also part of the Rare Soap Operas Collection.
