Greetings, Earthling! Featuring the imagined would-be world of technology, scientific possibilities, and futurist predictions, Science Fiction is one of my all-time favorite old time radio genres. Although, it is one of the rarest genres in old time radio, Science Fiction radio shows offer the listener top notch entertainment.
On the television or movie screen in the mid-20th century, the visual effects of Science Fiction sometimes look unbelievable or even corny as the special effects were not as developed as they are today. However, in the mind's eye anything is possible from moon men to outer space to alien invasions. Your imagination is your only limitation.
Writers of Science Fiction old time radio were some of the biggest names in the business including Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut, Isaac Asimov, Orson Welles, Arch Oboler, Philip K. Dick, Robert A. Heinlein, Frederik (Fred) Pohl, and many more. Many of the episodes were original works by these great authors while some were adapted from short stories and novels.
Here are some top Science Fiction Old Time Radio picks:
Dimension X |
X Minus One |
Journey Into Space |
These other sci fi compilations are also an amazing listen about the future ... from radio past:
