"In my job the hours are odd so are the circumstances and the people that I meet. You can even call some of them 'dangerous.' My calling card reads Matthew Slade: Private Investigator."
Matthew Slade was an AFRS (Armed Forces Radio Service) series created for Starlight Mystery Theater in Hollywood. Matthew Slade is a mystery-detective show about a private investigator based in San Francisco. Full of tough-guy talk indicative of hardboiled detectives of the golden age of radio. Cases range from a missing fabulous bird (possibly a Phoenix?) to a murderer in a Bachelor's Club to being entrapped by a crazy German Scientist in a castle.
Matthew Slade solves crime from California coast to Tangiers. Little information is know about this well executed show. Each episode are well written and original including one called "Who killed My Pen Pal" with a eccentric millionaire named Polly Smith.
So far most have been good, bu an occasional program with poor recording (fuzz, volume variations?) slip through. I record two shows on a cd for night time listening.
